Evaluating the Impact of Urban Microclimate on Buildings’ Heating and Cooling Energy Demand Using a Co-Simulation Approach

The current research proposes an integrated computational method to consider the effect of urban microclimate and higher air temperatures on assessment building energy demands annual basis. A one-way coupling procedure is established generate datasets typical weather years that can capture particularities as a function their morphological geometrical characteristics, thus providing global perspective performance at reasonable cost. proposed simulation method, here applied for analysis generic, non-insulated units located in four different sites Thessaloniki, Greece, based three tools: (a) ENVI-met v.4 model, (b) Meteonorm generator (c) dynamic BEPS tool EnergyPlus. obtained results indicate decrease heating needs examined 8.2–11.5% when warming was accounted for, along with rise cooling between 13.4 28.2%, depending case study area.
